El cor de Sitges – The Heart of Sitges
EL PROJECTE
El Cor de Sitges escrit en anglès i traduït al català pel cantant local Ramón Mirabet, explica la història de Sitges al llarg de 50.000 anys. Des de l’assentament preneolític recentment descobert sota el Palau Maricel, passant pels romans, el califat musulmà, la guerra civil, el viatge de Los Indianos al Carib, l’arribada de Santiago Rossinyol, fins el primer Gay Pride al 2011, El Cor de Sitges és una parada històrica no nomès per Sitges, sinó també per la història de la humanitat.
Un conte per explicar els origens de Sitges als petits de casa, dirigit a tots els sitgetans però també als nouvinguts i als turistes de tot el món. És per això que es publica en edició bilingüe per arribar a l’àmplia comunitat internacional que viu al poble o el visita.
El projecte neix de la col·laboració de tres artistes sitgetans (un escriptor, un dibuixant i un cantant), tots de Sitges, que volen celebrar amb aquest projecte el lloc especial que la vila ocupa en el seu cor i en el cor de tanta gent i difondre la màgia del poble a un públic més ampli.
Dedicat especialment al públic infantil i juvenil, amb il.lustracions parcialment acolorides perquè els lectors puguin acabar d’acolorir-les i així deixar anar la seva imaginació.
El Cor de Sitges was originally written in English and translated into Catalan by the local singer Ramón Mirabet. It tells the history of Sitges spanning over 50,000 years, beginning with the recent discovery of a pre-Neolithic settlement beneath Palau Maricel. The story continues through the Roman era, the Caliphate Muslim period, the Civil War, the voyage of the Indianos to the Caribbean, the arrival of Santiago Rossinyol, and culminates with the town’s first Gay Pride event in 2011. El Cor de Sitges serves as an unmissable historical record for Sitges and, indeed, for the history of humanity.
This story is intended to introduce the origins of Sitges to young readers, and it is dedicated to all Sitgetans, newcomers, and tourists from around the world. To ensure a wide international audience can enjoy it, the book has been published in a bilingual edition.
The project was born from the collaboration of three local artists, all from Sitges—a writer, a cartoonist, and a singer. They aim to celebrate the special place that Sitges holds in their hearts and in the hearts of many others, while also sharing the magic of the town with a broader audience, particularly children and young people. The illustrations are partially coloured so that readers can complete them and let their imaginations run free.

L’AUTOR, JOE WOODHOUSE
Joe Woodhouse és un escriptor, poeta i professor d’origen anglès que viu a Sitges. Ha publicat dues col·leccions de poesia, Nearly 30 i Cycles. Escriu lletres per a l’artista català Ramon Mirabet i és l’editor de la coneguda The Wales Haiku Journal. La seva obra també ha aparegut a Brittlestar Magazine, The Scotsman i la Hackney Gazette, entre d’altres.
Joe Woodhouse is a writer, poet and teacher living in Sitges. He has published two collections of poetry, Nearly 30 and Cycles, writes lyrics for Sony represented artist Ramon Mirabet, and edits the renowned editorial The Wales Haiku Journal. His work has also appeared in Brittlestar Magazine, The Scotsman and the Hackney Gazette, among others.
LA IL·LUSTRADORA, LEE MATHEWS
Love from Sitges va ser creat per Lee Matthews, il·lustradora i artesana de Nova Zelanda. Un dia durant un curs online de dibuix, va crear el personatge del cor i va néixer la marca Love from Sitges. Lee fa targetes de felicitació, postals, papereria i peces d’art que tenen com a objectiu difondre l’amor i celebrar la bellesa de Sitges: “Les meves creacions encarnen l’amor que tinc per la meva artesania i el lloc que anomeno casa meva”.
Love from Sitges was created by Lee Matthews, an illustrator and crafter from New Zealand. One day during an online drawing course, she created the heart character and the Love from Sitges brand was born. Lee makes greeting cards, postcards, stationery and art pieces that aim to spread love and celebrate the beauty of Sitges – “my creations embody the love I have for my craft and the place I call home”.
EL TRADUCTOR, RAMON MIRABET
Ramon Mirabet és un cantant i compositor representat per Sony Music que viu a Sitges. Recentment ha publicat el seu innovador quart àlbum, Free, que inclou la banda sonora del booktrailer d’El Cor de Sitges. L’any passsat començant la gira de presentació de l’àlbum, va fer un concert amb ple total que defineix la seva carrera a l’emblemàtic Palau de la Música Catalana. Continua la gira amb un gran èxit.
Ramon Mirabet is a singer songwriter signed to Sony Music who lives in Sitges. He recently released his fourth innovative studio album, Free, in which the soundtrack to the El Cor de Sitges book trailer can be found. Kicking off the album tour last year, Ramon performed a career defining concert to a full house at the iconic Palau de la Musica Catalana. He continues the tour to wide acclaim.

Si el projecte no s’arriba a finançar i no es realitza el llibre es tornaran totes les aportacions als seus mecenes.
